Ms Smith has been an independent financial adviser at Chase de Vere since 2008 and her clients cover the length and breadth of Scotland, including the Orkney Islands.

She is one of very few financial advisers in Scotland to be accredited as a full member of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA). In 2019, she was appointed as SOLLA’s West of Scotland regional co-ordinator.

Outside of work, Ms Smith is treasurer of Annbank Primary School Parent Council, as well as treasurer and first aider for the Ayr Boswells 2012 football team, where her son plays.

For seven years she was also the secretary and treasurer of the Willie Davidson 75th Anniversary Fund, which was started up in May 2013 to support Scottish Association of Young Farmers members towards personal development, training and health and safety.

Ms Smith has also undertaken training by Alzheimer Scotland around dementia and can wear the blue badge to confirm she is a member of Dementia Friends Scotland.

Stephen Kavanagh, chief executive at Chase de Vere, said: “I am delighted that Catriona has won this award for the second time and I agree entirely with the award judges who said that she is ‘worthy of 10 stars’. This is a fitting accolade for the focus that she puts on her career, the excellent financial advice and service she provides to her clients and, in addition to this, Catriona is also very active in contributing to her local community.”
