Burness Paull staff celebrate strong results with bonuses

Burness PaullLaw firm Burness Paull has reported strong full-year results with revenue up 11 per cent to £51m, in the year to July with profits up by 12 per cent in the same period rising to an impressive £23 million.

Staff are sharing in the good news with a bonus of 7.5 per cent of pay.

Since Burness merged with Paull & Williamsons in December 2012, combined firm has seen turnover rise 36 per cent and it now plans to expand in Norway and North America.

In its annual results, Burness Paull reported recent activity advising oil and gas firms on how to reduce staffing and cut costs as the downturn in prices hit.



It also advised FanDuel, the fast-growing fantasy American sports firm, on raising funds, and Standard Life on setting up its new advice service.

The firm also advised on major property deals in Aberdeen and the private partnership building the new Sick Children’s Hospital in Edinburgh.

New clients include Weir Group of Glasgow and Linn Products, the hi-fi and music firm.

The chairman of the partnership, Philip Rodney, said the results reflected success beyond the targets set at the time of merger, in a phase leading to the end of last month.

“With a successful 2014-2015 behind us and the transitional phase completed, the focus now turns to implementing our Dynamic Growth plan,” he said.

“This will see significant recruitment, including senior lateral hires together with increased profile and business in our key international markets, North America and Norway.”
