Brooks Macdonald announces Edinburgh relocation
Edinburgh-based investment management firm Brooks Macdonald has relocated its operation in the capital to newly refurbished Hobart House in a deal brokered by independent commercial property consultancy Knight Frank.
Following a significant renovation programme to the Hannover Street building’s public areas and vacant office suites, Brooks Macdonald has taken more than 2,100 sq. ft on Hobart House’s 2nd floor, moving from its current office at Melville Crescent.
Knight Frank and Eric Young & Co represented the property’s landlord, Aberdeen Standard Investments, while GL Hearn acted for Brooks Macdonald.
Hobart House features a new-look reception, bike storage, lockers and shower facilities. Its office suites have been revamped to create an improved working environment, with LED lighting and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heating and cooling systems.
A further two office suites are currently available and range from 2,000 sq. ft on the 2nd floor to 5,000 sq. ft on the 3rdth floor. Knight Frank and Eric Young & Co are joint agents for Hobart House.
Simon Capaldi, office agency partner at Knight Frank, said: “We’ve had encouraging feedback on the building works undertaken so far and the ‘defurbished’, modern office aesthetic has been well received. Following positive conversations with potential occupiers, it’s looking likely that the remaining suites will fill up quickly.
“Demand for office space in Edinburgh remains high, particularly in the city centre and we’ve seen a great level of interest in Hobart House. For businesses like Brooks Macdonald, being based in the city centre is fundamental, not only for day-to-day operations, but for attracting and retaining the best talent.”
