Brexit fears prompt BoE to ease capital requirements for banks

The Bank of England has has eased the rules around special capital requirements for banks in a move that it says potentially frees up £150bn for lending and help lubricate the UK’s financial system.

Governor of the BoE, Mark Carney, announced the move as he warned that evidence is emerging that risks that the bank identified with Brexit are beginning to manifest.
