Edinburgh-headquartered payment orchestration platform BR-DGE has partnered with open banking fintech Trustly.

This integration will give BR-DGE’s customers access to Trustly’s global capabilities, which processed $58 billion (around £46bn) in transactions in 2023.

BR-DGE’s merchants will be able to tap into and offer Trustly as a payment option, enabling the safe, seamless deposit and withdrawal of funds to consumer’s bank accounts, as well as other payments, financial and KYC data products that Trustly offers.

In turn, Trustly will gain access to BR-DGE’s global ecosystem that empowers businesses across industries such as travel and transport, digital goods, platform businesses and retail. One of BR-DGE’s major gaming customers will be the first to go live with an integration later this year.

The partnership also extends to supporting iDEAL payments, one of the most widely used online payment methods in the Netherlands. With more than one billion transactions made per year, iDEAL gives consumers a secure and trusted way to make payments direct from bank accounts, opening new avenues for merchants operating in the region.

Tom Voaden, head of partnerships at BR-DGE, said: “We’re focused on building the technology, connections and relationships that deliver measurable value for the whole payment ecosystem.

“Our partnership with Trustly is another example of exactly this, empowering merchants and payment providers to easily leverage best-in-class solutions – in this case, open banking technology – to deliver enhanced customer experiences and drive profitability.”

Olof Wirfelt, chief commercial officer at Trustly Europe, said: “BR-DGE stands out as one of Europe’s most promising payment orchestration platforms, known for its excellent product and strong team.

“We are excited to partner with BR-DGE as one of the first open banking payment providers on their platform, confident that our superior account-to-account payments and data products will significantly benefit their customers.”
