Blair Nimmo and Alistair McAlinden of Interpath Advisory appointed administrators of Bellhill Limited
Blair Nimmo and Alistair McAlinden of Interpath Advisory have been appointed joint administrators of Bellhill Limited.
Incorporated in 2010, the company owns and operates the Lorne Hotel, a 102-bed three-star hotel in the west end of Glasgow. The hotel also incorporates Bukharah, an award-winning Indian restaurant, and Bilberry Cocktail bar together with an extensive function suite and conference facilities, which can accommodate up to 170 guests.
Historically a profitable business, the company encountered financial difficulties as a consequence of COVID-19 restrictions preventing the hotel, bar and restaurant from trading from March 2020 onwards.
In light of the significant loss in turnover, the director took various steps to reduce costs and manage cash flow during the COVID pandemic. However, following an adverse finding in a legal action against the company in early May 2021, the director concluded that there was no other option than to place the company into administration.
At the time of the appointment, the company employed 30 people.
Following the appointment, the company’s financial position was such that there was no option other than to cease to trade with immediate effect, which has unfortunately meant that all of the employees have been made redundant.
Blair Nimmo, joint administrator and CEO of Interpath, said: “The impact of the pandemic and resulting lockdown on companies across the Scottish leisure and hospitality sector has been profound. Our priority is to work with all affected employees and the relevant government agencies to ensure a full range of support is available.”
Alistair McAlinden, joint administrator and head of the hospitality and leisure sector team for Interpath in Scotland, added: “We will be looking for a purchaser for the Lorne Hotel and its assets. Ideally situated in the west end of Glasgow and close to the city centre and its attractions, including the Hydro and the Scottish Exhibition Campus. This is an opportunity for a purchaser to acquire an asset with significant potential.”
