Begbies Traynor have been appointed liquidators of a Broughty Ferry cafe after it was forced to cease trading last month.

The cafe, Jessie’s Kitchen, surprised customers after it announced on it’s Facebook page that it had suddenly decided to close down. The business had accumulated “significant” debts and on the 30th of June it announced the decision to shut it’s doors.

Kenneth Pattullo and Kenneth Craig of independent insolvency practitioner Begbies Traynor were appointed as joint liquidators of Dundee-based Jessie’s Kitchen Catering Company Limited on 5 July.

Mr Pattullo said: “While it is unlikely that there will be a potential buyer for the business in its current state there is still the opportunity for any interested party to come forward.”

Mr Pattullo added: “Any customer who purchased a Jessie’s Kitchen Catering gift card using a credit or debit card is encouraged to speak with their bank providers in order to seek a refund. This refers to section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, or chargeback for debit cards.

“If any customer requires assistance or needs evidence of the company’s insolvency, they should contact Begbies Traynor. Customers who paid cash will have a claim against the liquidated company. If the asset realisations are sufficient to enable a dividend to ordinary creditors, they may receive a pence in the pound dividend.”

Customers who wish to submit a claim should contact Begbies Traynor so that a claim form can be provided to ensure their claim is recorded.
