Barclays appoints Chris Arbuthnott director of wealth management in Scotland
Barclays has announced the appointment of Chris Arbuthnott as a director of wealth management in Scotland.
As well as looking after clients in the East of Scotland, Mr Arbuthnott will have a remit for growing the bank’s entrepreneurial, private client and charity customer base, as well as growing the company’s footprint in the region.
He returns to Barclays from HSBC, where he was previously a director of its private bank team in Scotland.
Prior to joining HSBC, Mr Arbuthnott spent more than three years in the Barclays Wealth Management team as vice president, as well as in private banker roles for Kleinwort Benson in Edinburgh and Arbuthnot Latham & Co. in London.
The move follows the appointment of Graham Nicoll to lead the newly merged Midlands, North & West Barclays Wealth Management team, which covers all areas outside of London and the South East of England in July 2018.
John Godfrey, a director of Barclays Wealth Management in Scotland, said: “This latest hire underlines our continued commitment to the Scottish market. Chris is joining at an exciting time for Barclays in Scotland, with our client base and team continuing to show strong growth.
“Chris’ significant experience within wealth management and private banking, combined with his extensive professional network and ability to create and nurture exceptional client relationships, means he will be a very valuable addition to the team as we continue to grow our presence in the Scottish market.”
Mr Arbuthnott added: “Barclays has an excellent reputation in Scotland and offers huge range of innovative products and advice for clients. I look forward to working closely with the team to ensure we continue to grow our market presence and capitalise on current opportunities in Scotland.”
