Baillie Gifford appoints five new partners
Edinburgh-based fund managers Baillie Gifford & Co has announced the appointment of five new Partners effective 1 May 2018.
The new Partners will be Matthew Brett, Investment Manager in the Japanese Equity team; James Squires, Investment Manager in the Multi Asset team; Amy Atack, Director with responsibility for clients in Emerging Markets strategies; Nick Wood, Director with responsibility for US Financial Intermediary clients; and Evan Delaney, Director of Business Risk and Internal Audit.
The firm said the move was made after as four partners will be retiring from the firm on 30 April 2018: Sarah Whitley, Head of the Japanese Equity team; Stephen Rodger and Ken Barker, both partners within the firm’s fixed income area; and Pete Cooke, partner with responsibility for clients in the Long Term Global Growth strategy.
The total number of partners will rise to 44.

Matthew Brett graduated BA in Natural Sciences (Psychology) from the University of Cambridge in 2000 and holds a PhD in Psychology from Bristol University. Matthew joined Baillie Gifford in 2003 and is an Investment Manager in the Japanese Equity team. He is co-manager of the Japanese Fund and co-manager of the Japananese Income Growth Fund.
James Squires graduated BA in Mathematics and Philosophy from Oxford University in 2005. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2006, initially working in our North American Equity and Fixed Income teams. He is an Investment Manager in the Multi Asset team.
Amy Atack graduated BA in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge in 2003 and joined Baillie Gifford in 2004. She was an Investment Manager in the Emerging Markets Equity team before joining our Clients Department in 2010 where she is a Client Service Director.
Nick Wood graduated BBS in Economics from Massey University in New Zealand in 1994. He joined Baillie Gifford in January 1999, working in Performance and Investment Risk, and became head of Investment Risk in 2007. Nick joined the Clients Department in 2010 and is a Client Service Director.
Evan Delaney graduated BAcc in Accountancy from Dundee University in 1991. A qualified Chartered Accountant, he spent a number of years in audit and consultancy and was previously Head of Risk Management for a major banking group. Evan joined Baillie Gifford in 2003 to develop the internal audit function and the group risk management framework encompassing operational risk, credit risk, capital and insurance as well as business continuity.
