Average Scots accountant earning £55,720

CIMAQualified members of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in Scotland earned an average basic salary of £55,720 last year.

A survey by the professional body found that the average haul north of the border was more than double the UK national average salary of £27,200.

CIMA said, on top of base salaries, 56 per cent of CIMA students in Scotland expected to receive a bonus last year with the average add-on standing at 8 per cent of annual salary.

Andrew Harding managing director of CIMA, said: “In contrast to the ongoing trend of weak wage growth nationally, the earning potential of our members in Scotland has remained high, driven by the relevance and value of their skills to business.”
