Mr Donaldson joins from retirement living specialists McCarthy & Stone where he was regional finance director for Scotland. The chartered accountant will concentrate on developing a strategy for future growth with a particular focus on growing the private homes side of the business.

AS Homes has also promoted current finance manager Gillian Quigley as company director.

The firm has also appointed Ainslie McCrone as its new sales and marketing co-ordinator. Ms McCrone takes on the newly created role for Briar Homes. She has worked in the housing sector for almost 25 years, having been senior sales negotiator and sales manager at Allen and Harris Estate Agents followed by sales manager at Caledonia Bureau.

James Loughrey also joins AS Homes as senior quantity surveyor.
