Armstrong Watson has appointed Kirsty Wilson as tax director in its Glasgow office.

With 25 years of experience in both in-house and practice roles, Ms Wilson brings significant expertise to the firm’s corporate tax team in Scotland.

Having trained with KPMG, where she qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser and worked for 12 years, Ms Watson went on to hold positions with US-owned insurance group Gallagher, French Duncan and, latterly, AIM-listed software development company Idox Plc, where she was head of tax for the global group, which has operations in the UK, US, France, and India.

At Armstrong Watson, Ms Watson will lead and grow the corporate tax team in Glasgow, overseeing project management of both corporate tax compliance and advisory work. Ms Watson will also play a key role in expanding the firm’s corporate tax offering in Scotland and nationally.

She said: “I am delighted to join Armstrong Watson and be part of a strong national tax team. I want to utilise my experience of working in-house to help guide and support clients on a day-to-day basis and to become a trusted business adviser helping them to achieve their long-term goals.

“The values of Armstrong Watson align to my own and what I hope to achieve by delivering the best service to clients. They have a strong people focus on both clients and staff.”

This appointment comes as Armstrong Watson also announces the promotion of Hannah Laidlaw-Keggans to tax senior manager at the firm’s Dumfries office, further strengthening the Scottish tax team.

Becky Bowness, senior tax partner, said: “We are delighted to welcome Kirsty to the team in Glasgow. Kirsty has extensive experience and is a key, strategic hire for the business to support our continued growth in Scotland and improve our client service experience.

“Kirsty has a unique experience and skillset coupling both expert technical knowledge with an understanding of what it is like to be a client working with advisers.”

Paul Dickson, Armstrong Watson’s chief executive & managing partner, added: “I am very pleased that Kirsty has joined the team in Glasgow to further enhance our client focused proposition in the city, supporting the team to provide the highest level of advice and support that our clients need and want.”
