Armstrong Watson Financial Planning and Wealth Management – part of Armstrong Watson LLP – have announced the launch of their new retirement planning advisory brand with a focus on individuals.

With research indicating that by 2035 there will be over 4 million more people heading into their 60s, Armstrong Watson believes that there was a gap in the market for those looking to plan for the future.

The new brand will complement Armstrong Watson Financial Planning and Wealth Management which has traditionally focused on offering services to business owners and/or those located regionally to Armstrong Watson offices and will instead look to attract future interest from individuals across the UK who might not usually come into contact with the Armstrong Watson brand and services.

Paul Dickson, Armstrong Watson chief executive, said: “As people approach retirement, they are coming up to a significant milestone in their life, for which they are looking for information and direction that can help them with the decisions and planning they need to undertake.

“Accessing independent pension advice, unique to an individual’s circumstances can be incredibly difficult. Whilst there are a number of online options, many are ‘self-service’ sites, requiring a good level of personal knowledge, or are non-independent providers offering only affiliated products.

“With myretirement.co.uk, we wanted to create an online space where those seeking retirement planning guidance could access clear information, gain an understanding of the pension planning process, and connect with independent financial advice, tailored to their current position and future retirement goals.

“As Independent Financial Advisers our aim is not just to consolidate pensions, as many high-profile pension companies are advertising at the moment, but to provide people looking at their options with a tailored solution to meet their needs.

“This not only includes pensions but considers other aspects of financial planning such as passing on money to children and grandchildren and, as part of Armstrong Watson, we can provide a holistic wealth management solution between our financial advisers and our tax team.”

With the Association of British Insurers suggesting that only 1 in 5 people aged 50-64 speak with a financial adviser prior to accessing their pension benefits, Armstrong Watson’s team emphasise how crucial it is to take expert advice to achieve the retirement one might hope for.
