Chuck O’Rear, the 81-year-old snapper behind the world’s most viewed pic, opened up about the adventure he embarked on to sell his not-so-average photo.
Taken in 1996 during a pitstop en route to meet his future wife, his photo became the unforgettable Windows XP desktop image.
Microsoft shelled out a “low six-figure” sum, rumoured to be over $100,000, for the picture, but FedEx refused to transport the pricey snapshot due to hefty insurance costs, Ladbible reports.
So, Mr O’Rear hopped on a plane and hand-delivered the photo to Microsoft’s Seattle HQ himself.
