And finally… royal mint
In a tribute fit for a queen – quite literally – the East India Company, now a luxury lifestyle brand, has unveiled “The Crown Coin”, a basketball-sized tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, worth a jaw-dropping £18.5 million.
The coin was revealed to commemorate the first anniversary of Her Majesty’s death, who passed away on 8 September 2022.
Craftsmen from across The Commonwealth spent 16 months crafting this opulent oddity by hand. It weighs in at an eye-watering 4kg of gold and is adorned with 6,426 hand-set, GIA-certified diamonds. Despite its colossal worth, the coin’s face value is, ironically, a modest £10,000.
