A lock of George Washington’s hair is set to be sold at auction later this month.
The greying hair has been preserved in a locket that was given to a family friend and passed down for generations. It is estimated to sell for between $800,000 and $1.2 million (c. £616,000 and £920,000).
New York-based Guernsey’s auction house is to auction the item as part of a sale that will also include presidential portraits from the Bachrach photography studio.
The sale will be conducted online on 22 November and previewed at the Arader Galleries in New York City, CNN reports.
