And finally… pooling their resources
French tax authorities have benefitted from new artificial intelligence (AI) technology bringing in an extra €10 million (£8.5m) in tax revenue.
The AI technology, developed by Google and Capgemini, was used to detect undeclared swimming pools in France. It was being trialled in the regions of Alpes-Maritimes, Var, Bouches-du-Rhône, Ardèche, Rhône, Haute-Savoie, Vendée, Maine-et-Loire and Morbihan, where more than 20,000 hidden pools were discovered, Le Parisien reports.
Tax officials say the trial could be expanded across the country.
The technology could be further developed to find undeclared home extensions and other taxable property.
