And finally… own goal
A part-time footballer lost a £55,000 personal injury claim after scoring a remarkable goal on live television with his allegedly injured foot.
Callum Saunders, 33, scored from more than 40 metres away, near the halfway line – but his accomplishment turned out to be an own goal.
Insurer Aviva used Sky TV footage of the goal in its evidence against Mr Saunders’ claim for injuries sustained in a traffic collision in 2017.
The insurance giant also relied on clips uploaded to YouTube by Mr Saunders’ then team, Haywards Heath Town FC.
Mr Saunders admitted that he had been “fundamentally dishonest” and agreed to pay £5,000 in legal costs, The Times reports.
