And finally… on the lam
Banksy has confirmed a painting on the former Reading Prison depicting its most famous inmate Oscar Wilde is his work.
The mural shows a prisoner rappelling down one of the prison’s exterior walls using paper from a typewriter as a rope.
The artist confirmed the work was his via a video posted on his Instagram account yesterday, Sky News reports.
In the footage, Banksy is shown stealthily executing the work entitled Create Escape on the outside wall of Reading Prison at night.
Oscar Wilde spent two years in Reading Prison after his conviction for gross indecency in 1895. He subsequently wrote The Ballad of Reading Gaol.
