And finally… no free ride
An American cyclist is taking legal action after being struck and injured by an ambulance, which took him to hospital and then sent him a bill for nearly $2,000.
William Hoesch, 71, is seeking $997,000 (around €930,000 or £775,000) from Columbia River Fire & Rescue in Oregon in compensation and damages.
The cyclist says he was charged $1,862 for the ride in the ambulance which destroyed his bicycle and gave him a broken nose, The Oregonian reports.
The lawsuit alleges that Hoesch’s bicycle and the ambulance were travelling in the same direction when the ambulance attempted a right turn and crashed into him.
He is seeking around $900,000 for pain and suffering in addition to compensation for medical costs.
