And finally... duck and cover

A popular St Andrews sandwich shop is considering introducing a £1 “seagull insurance” policy to combat the persistent problem of seagulls snatching food from customers.

The Cheesy Toast Shack says it currently loses hundreds of pounds a day replacing food snatched by the “super aggressive” birds, with up to 30 customers falling victim daily.

Owner Kate Carter-Larg describes the situation as “terrifying”, with some customers even suffering injuries from the swooping gulls. Despite trying various deterrents, like bird of prey noises and kites, the problem persists, particularly during busy summer months when customers may wait up to an hour for their food, Fife Today reports.

The proposed “gull insurance” would allow customers to pay an optional £1 fee, ensuring a replacement if their food is stolen.
