And finally… glitch in the system
NatWest has remedied an IT glitch that led thousands of customers to believe they were missing funds.
The issue was first identified on Thursday when the customers noticed discrepancies in their cash balances on the bank’s ATMs. Many took to social media with their worries about potentially facing bank charges as the glitch had seemingly left them overdrawn.
By Friday morning, NatWest confirmed that the issue had been resolved. “Cash payments to a small number of accounts have been delayed. The issue is now resolved and customer accounts are being updated. No customer will be left out of pocket as a result,” the bank said in a statement, assuring customers that they would not incur any financial detriment due to this problem, Finextra reports.
This technological hiccup emerges just a month after a similar issue with the Bank of Ireland’s cash machines, which caused chaos as customers mistakenly thought they could withdraw money exceeding their daily limits, leading to queues around the country.
