Pope Francis, speaking to a delegation from Italy’s revenue agency, encourages the tax collectors to keep up their work to help redistribute wealth and help the poor, WSB-TV reports.

Francis acknowledged that the group is often perceived as an agency that is “putting your hands in other people’s pockets”, but urged that they provide a valuable service.

Pope Francis said: “In reality, taxation is a sign of legality and justice.”
