And finally… fishy charges
A man’s pet fish managed to hack into its owner’s Nintendo eShop account and make a ¥500 (£3) purchase using his saved credit card information, all while streaming the antics live to an audience of hundreds on YouTube.
The heist was an unintended consequence due to an experiment to see if the fish could complete Pokémon Scarlet and Violet unassisted.
Using motion-tracking software the owner, Japanese YouTuber “Mutekimaru Channel”, placed a webcam focused on his fish bowl to monitored the fish as it swam across an overlaid grid populated with controller inputs. When the fish would pause or change direction the overlaid controller input would be triggered.
In the comical scenario, the fish also managed to change its owner’s account name from “Mutekimaru” to “ROWAWAWAWA¥” and purchased an avatar. This happened over seven hours before before the owner managed to shut down the system.
The owner got in touch with Nintendo and managed to get a refund, Techspot reports.
