And finally… do as I say, not as I do
Prosecutors who brought down the hammer on late taxpayers have complained that their own pay is now extremely late.
The local prosecutor’s office in St Louis County, Missouri has been owed around $54,000 (c. £42,000) for months.
“The state is late in paying us to prosecute taxpayers who are late in paying them,” spokesperson Chris King told FOX2now.
“These are delinquent tax cases. We did our job, and we’re waiting to get paid.”
As a result of the late payment from the Missouri Department of Revenue, the prosecutor’s office is experiencing a budget crisis and is unable to order supplies or pay bills and invoices.
Mr King said the department is blaming a software issue and has promised to send payments as soon as it is resolved.
