And finally… common cents
One of the first coins ever in circulation in Scotland has been sold at auction for £1,500.
The rare silver penny was struck some time after 1136, during the reign of King David I.
The coin depicted a profile bust of the King holding a sceptre. On the reverse there is a a cross with fleurs de lis on the reverse.
Noonans auctioneers in London sold the coin, where a buyer in Scotland secured the coin after a bidding battle, the Edinburgh Reporter reports.
