And finally… chip off the old block
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s net worth has surpassed that of long-time competitor Intel’s market cap, reaching around $109 billion (c. £83bn), over $10bn (c. £7.6bn) higher than Intel’s $96bn (c. £73bn) market capitalisation.
This situation has led to speculation, albeit mostly humorous, that Huang could theoretically purchase Intel outright, and still be left with around $13bn (c. £9.9bn) in change.
While such a move is highly unlikely due to regulatory hurdles and the sheer complexity of the deal, it highlights the stark contrast in fortunes between the two companies, Tom’s Hardware reports.
Nvidia’s stock has soared in recent years, making it one of the world’s most valuable companies. In contrast, Intel has faced challenges, with its stock price falling by more than half from its peak in late 2023.
