The PGA of America is facing criticism for charging volunteers a hefty fee to work at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

The “volunteer package” will cost $350 (£269), which includes a uniform, a drawstring bag, a commemorative pin, and food during shifts. This is a significant increase from the $175 (£134) fee charged to volunteers at the 2019 PGA Championship, the last major held at Bethpage.

This news comes on the heels of the PGA of America’s decision to charge $749.51 (£574.35) for daily tickets to the Ryder Cup, more than three times the price of tickets to the 2023 event. The PGA of America has defended the high prices, citing the Ryder Cup’s popularity and the demand for tickets.
