And finally… bad hair day
Hairdressers and barbers in the Italian town of Castenaso have been banned from double-washing hair to save water as the area faces the worst drought in decades.
Carlo Gubellini, the mayor of Castenaso, said double-shampooing, which is a common practice in Italian salons, wasted water, The Times reports.
He told state television that the city has “bout ten hairdressers with hundreds of clients a day”, adding that there are “thousands of litres that we can save every day”.
The town has also banned hosepipe use during the day and recommended that its 16,000 residents shower rather than take a bath and turn off the tap while brushing their teeth or shaving.
Anyone breaking the new rules risks fines ranging from €25 to €500, The Times reports.
