And finally… a bonnie blade
A sword from the Battle of Culloden is set to go under the hammer in Edinburgh next week.
Auction house Bonhams has estimated the value of the 18th-century basket hilt broadsword, carried by clansmen loyal to Bonnie Prince Charlie, to be between £500 and £800, the BBC reports.
This broadsword, with its 87cm double-edged blade and armourers’ mark, boasts decorative features like stylised hearts and a ram’s horn. It is accompanied by a handwritten note stating its discovery at Culloden after the battle.
