Amy Paterson selected as new chair of Scottish Financial Enterprise Young Professionals Network
Amy Paterson, senior risk manager at Barclays, has been appointed as the new chair of the Scottish Financial Enterprise Young Professionals Network.
She replaces outgoing Milly Batchelor, business manager at NatWest Group, who has been chair of the network since 2019.
Ms Paterson has over 10 years’ experience in financial services in second line risk and governance roles across retail, corporate and wealth centric businesses, recently leading the second line risk function of Barclays UK through the acquisition and alignment of Kensington Mortgage Company.
She has extensive experience supporting the development of young professionals in her community and promoting equal opportunities for those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and was recently awarded the Role Model of the Year award for diversity, equity and inclusion by Barclays Scotland.
Ms Paterson has been deputy chair of the network for over a year, also sitting on its Changing Customer Needs workstream.
Scottish Financial Enterprise Young Professionals was formed in 2017 to connect, inspire and support people in the early stages of their careers. It has since grown to over 1200 members, supporting the development of young professionals in Scotland’s financial services industry through a comprehensive programme of campaigns, events, mentoring and networking opportunities.
Ms Paterson said: “The SFE Young Professionals Network has gone from strength to strength in recent years, playing an increasingly important role on key strategic issues for SFE like mental health, net zero, changing customer needs and skills and inclusion.
“It’s a huge privilege to be selected to lead the network. I look forward to working with the committee, firm reps, and all of our 1200 members as we continue to build on the strong foundations developed under Milly’s leadership with the support and commitment of members from right across the industry.”
Sandy Begbie CBE, SFE chief executive, said: “I would like to offer a warm congratulations to Amy for deservedly being appointed as our new YP chair. Amy has been a credit to the Network over the last year and impressed with her knowledge and vision throughout the chair selection process. I’m excited to work with her and the rest of the network as they continue to deliver for young professionals from across our industry.
“I would also like to say a big thanks to Milly for her support over the past three years. The Network has grown and developed to become one of SFE’s biggest assets under her leadership and she can be extremely proud of her contribution.”
