University of Dundee-based charity PAMIS have received £5000 from wealth manager Alliance Trust’s charitable arm for a project to work with young families across Tayside who have recently received a diagnosis of profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).

The Alliance Trust Foundation is run by a committee of Alliance Trust employees from across the business. It aims to engage staff through various initiatives and events to raise money for a select number of charities during the year.

Representatives of PAMIS pitched for the funding in May, along with six other charities from across the UK. After hearing the pitches, Alliance Trust staff participated in a company-wide vote for the charities they believed were most deserving of support, and PAMIS was chosen to receive a £5000 award.

“People with PMLD are very special people with distinctive needs,” said PAMIS Chief Executive Jenny Miller. “We are delighted to have been chosen by the Alliance Trust Foundation, we are now able to provide more support to families with younger children.”

PAMIS is the only organisation in Scotland that works solely with people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. They provide a range of services and projects and works closely with the Scottish Government on the development of policy and practice.
