Alan Davis appointed new Henderson Loggie chair
Alan Davis (51) has been appointed chairman of Henderson Loggie, the Scottish business services and accounting firm with offices in Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Mr Davis, who is Head of Tax for the firm and one of the country’s leading VAT specialists, succeeds Jandy Stevenson who has retired and will remain on as consultant to the firm.
Prior to joining Henderson Loggie in 2005, Mr Davis worked with KPMG in their Aberdeen and Edinburgh offices and spent 16 years with HM Revenue and Customs, and has, in total, 30 years’ experience of specialising in VAT. In addition to his tax specialism, he leads the firm’s education sector group which counts a number of Scotland’s leading independent schools among its clients.
The appointment is announced at the same time as a management reshuffle sees Fiona Morgan become head of accountancy and business solutions and Stephen Bain take up the role as head of IT.
These appointments underline the firm’s focus on technology and commitment to improve systems and processes across client services.
Commenting on his appointment Mr Davis said: “It is a privilege to follow in the footsteps of Jandy Stevenson who has steered the firm through a programme of expansion and has been a key component of the firm’s development over the past four years. It is an exciting time as we continue to embrace the latest technology and build on our role as business advisors. Stephen and Fiona will bring added focus to our offering to the market, with a particular focus on emerging Cloud-based accounting innovations.”
“Scotland has deals to be done and we are well positioned to be where the action is. We have clearly identified areas of sector expertise, such as creative and interactive media, life sciences, education and manufacturing, where our deep understanding of the business environment means that we can add value to our core accountancy, audit and tax offering. I look forward to working with our Managing Partner David Smith, the rest of the board and the wider partnership to grow our presence in these markets.”
Originally from Leven in Fife, Mr Davis lives in Perth with his wife and two children.
