Aidan O’Carroll stays on as Revenue Scotland chairperson
Aidan O’Carroll has been reappointed as chair of Revenue Scotland for a further three-year term.
Mr O’Carroll, a former senior partner at EY, has chaired the Scottish tax authority since August 2021 and is credited with bringing insights into wider regulatory trends, organisational transformations as well as being a leadership mentor.
During his 35-year career with EY, he was head of tax for EY across the UK as well as a global tax leader, advising many local and global companies across a wide spectrum of tax and business issues around the world.
He has considerable experience in dealing with regulatory matters and is a chartered accountant and a chartered director. He holds a number of non-executive director roles in organisations based in the UK.
On his reappointment, Mr O’Carroll said: “It is a real privilege to be reappointed as chair of Revenue Scotland. This is a great team to be a part of and I am really looking forward to helping its positive progress as a high performing organisation that delivers for Scotland.
“We can be proud of what has been achieved in the first 10 years of our existence and the quality of all that work here.
“There is still much to do, and I know the whole board and the team here are feeling excited about the future opportunities where Revenue Scotland can be a positive leader and contributor.”
Revenue Scotland is responsible for collecting and managing Scotland’s devolved taxes. It was established in 2015 following the devolution of Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) and Scottish Landfill Tax (SLfT).
