Global law firm, Addleshaw Goddard, is strengthening its Scottish private capital offering with the appointment of a new director.

The firm, which merged with HBJ Gateley in June of this year, has hired Euan Fleming to join its growing private capital practice.

Mr Fleming, who joins Addleshaw Goddard from Brodies LLP, has more than 13 years’ experience in advising a host of high-net-worth individuals, corporate entities, family offices and trust companies on a range of legal matters, from taxation and trust law, to asset protection.

He will join the Edinburgh office, playing a significant role in growing and developing the Scottish and UK-wide private capital arm.

The specialism, consisting of 14 lawyers spread across Addleshaw Goddard’s 12 offices, represents companies internationally and its client base comprises entrepreneurs, business executives, landowners and trustees.

The team also deal with complex trust and estate litigation, as well as managing offshore tax planning structures.

Gregor Mitchell, private capital partner at Addleshaw Goddard, said: “Euan is a strong addition to the Edinburgh team as we continue to invest in our private capital offering, not just in Scotland, but across the UK.

“Having this particular specialism in-house brings a range of benefits to clients, giving them access to expertise from personal estate management through to succession, tax and wealth planning.

“With the rate of entrepreneurialism in the UK ever-increasing, there’s a great deal of opportunity for us to work with innovative, fast-paced businesses and continue to set our sights on growing the practice internationally.”

Mr Fleming said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Addleshaw Goddard. The firm has one of the UK’s strongest specialist private client groups, and I’m looking forward to working with a range of its national and international clients in the years ahead.”

Pervinder Kaur, partner and head of private capital at Addleshaw Goddard, said: “The addition of Euan demonstrates our firm-wide commitment to investing in talent. The Edinburgh team is a vital part of our UK-wide private capital network, and Euan’s appointment will ensure we continue to deliver the best results for clients in this specialism across the regions.”
