Accounts manager who stole £250,000 from client jailed for 20 months

An accounts manager who stole more than £250,000 from Glasgow-based Campbell McWilliams has been jailed for 20 months.

Kathleen Ross stole the cash over four years when she worked for her aunt’s accountancy business and handled the books for the communications firm.

The first time offender and mother-of-three pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the £253,966 theft between February 2014 and July 2018.

The court heard Miss Ross started work at Benham Conway & Co accountants in 2005, The Herald reports.

Her work was overseen by someone more qualified within the firm, including her aunt Kathleen Benham.

Miss Ross was put in charge of Campbell Mcwilliams’ bank account with Miss Benham checking her niece but Ross transferred money to her account on 200 separate occasions.
