ACCA bridges gap between study and work to celebrate Scottish Careers Week

As part of Scottish Careers week, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is bringing together the country’s top accountancy student talent with key local employers.

Taking place on Thursday 14 November with over 70 students due to participate, the event has been designed to pair accountancy students from universities and colleges across central Scotland with employers who are looking to recruit for placements or graduate positions.

Susan Love, strategic engagement lead for Scotland, ACCA, said: “To celebrate Scottish Careers Week, we’re shining a light on the opportunities a career in accounting can bring, helping students take their first steps into the world of work, by bringing them together with employers in a fast-paced but relaxed environment.

“With exposure to a range of employers, students will be able to share their CV, have five minutes to ask questions of and hear about opportunities from employers, before moving on to the next employer.

“At a time when we know employers are in a war for talent this should be a fantastic opportunity for them to meet the brightest and the best future accountancy talent in the country. We know from previous events employers have found this useful, with successful job offers arising from connections made at events.”

As well as talking to employers, students can network with like-minded peers, share experiences, and expand their professional circles.

Ms Love added: “Employers will be able to share information about their sector, business, and discuss live vacancies for both placements, internships and graduate positions, or to talk about their recruitment timescales.”
