Abrdn and Weir Group rejoin FTSE 100

The return of Scottish fund manager abrdn and engineering firm Weir Group to the FTSE 100 has been confirmed by the index’s management group.
The two Scottish firms will rejoin the index of the UK’s largest quoted companies this month alongside Beazley, with effect from 19 December.
This year’s number of company promotions and demotions to the FTSE 100 index has been higher than others, set to reach a total of 15 changes with this month’s, making 2022 the biggest year for changes to the index since the 2008 financial crisis. 2007 and 2008 saw 19 changes.
