Aberdeen UK distribution head joins US investor
Martyn Gilbey, who left Aberdeen Asset Management earlier this month where he was head of U.K. distribution, has joined American global investment firm Franklin Templeton as its UK country head.
Based in London, he will develop the firm’s retail and institutional businesses in the UK and offshore territories, starting from 1 August.
As head of UK distribution leading at Aberdeen he was responsible for a team of 40 and approximately £200bn of client assets.
He was previously head of wholesale distribution at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and has also worked at Mirae Asset Global Investment.
A spokesman for Aberdeen said Hans Benenga, global head of business development, had taken on his responsibilities.
In his new role at Franklin Templeton, Mr Gilbey will report to Vivek Kudva, managing director for EMEA and India.
Mr Kudva said he will work closely with Mr Gilbey to expand Franklin Templeton’s business in the UK.
He said: “With over 24 years of financial services experience, 18 of which have been in investment management specifically, Martyn brings a wealth of expertise to grow our retail and institutional presence.”
