The firm’s investment in the health and wellbeing of its staff was made weeks before a team of scientists issued a call for workplaces to pay greater attention to the cleanliness of the air in their buildings.

In a BMJ editorial, fighting airborne transmission is identified as key to any future attempts to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

Wylie & Bisset has purchased a high specification Smart Sanitising Office Mister together with Aura Air purification technology from Glasgow-based Air Protection.

Donald McKinnon, managing partner, said: “We are already seeing the benefits of a cleaner working environment and if we can reduce annual seasonal sickness days through installing these air purification technologies, then that has to be a good thing for all concerned.”

The high specification Smart Sanitising Office Mister silently disperses a fine, cold, dry mist of a proprietary solution of hypochlorous acid water (HOCl) formulated to safely and effectively sanitise and purify the air and surfaces within workplace environments.

Aura Air purifies, cleanses and disinfects indoor air, while vigilantly monitoring quality in real-time. It targets and disinfects 99.9% of viruses, bacteria, mould, and Volatile Organic Compounds, removes gasses and captures 99.9% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns, including allergens.

Bruce Cameron, owner at Air Protection, added: “It is now recognised that a poorly-ventilated indoor environment is a breeding ground for coronavirus transmission.

“Our range of smart air monitoring, filtering, purification and sanitisation products help organisations combat viruses, bacteria, pollen, dust, and other harmful contaminants to ensure healthy indoor air quality in the workplace to help minimise sick leave and maximise productivity.”

Mc McKinnon added: “We regard the purchase of this technology as an astute investment that will realise tangible long-term benefits.”
