Under the three-year contract, the business performance improvements firm will embed COMET, an investigation and root cause analysis toolkit, to effectively manage and resolve incidents and unplanned events of all types that may take place on the transformational project to redevelop Euston station.

STC INSISO provides business performance improvement through process design, health & safety solutions, training, and innovative software. It works across oil & gas, waste & utilities, medical, hospitality, manufacturing and marine and is now bringing the lessons it has learned across these safety-critical industries over decades to the rail sector.

Mark Rushton, managing director at STC INSISO, said: “HS2 Euston is a really exciting project for us to be a part of as we bring our attested solutions to the rail sector for the first time. COMET is all about helping organisations control risk, whether that’s through pro-active audit and assurance activity or reactive incident investigation and root cause analysis.

“COMET is the perfect solution for this as it helps organisations understand what has gone wrong, what could go wrong, and what they need to do to prevent incidents. As we launch COMET Assured in January 2022, it is expected to assist the project in prioritising & addressing systemic root causes, and maintaining performance improvement throughout the construction.”

The company has also entered a six-figure contract earlier this month with East West Rail following a successful related project to create an engaging product to further develop the company’s equality, diversity, and inclusion programme.

The product will allow East West Rail to deploy innovative approaches to detecting problems and opportunities from different angles, developing competency in inclusive behaviours to ensure the right people are involved in the right situations, and that everyone’s input is valued.

Mark Rushton added: “Our solutions and behavioural competency programmes are about being aware of unconscious bias, based upon an individual’s values, technical experience, and background. It’s about developing competency in trusting behaviours to bring the best out in people.”

STC INSISO has also secured ECITB Accreditation for the training programmes used to roll out equality, diversity and inclusions skills and knowledge and has secured multiple opportunities to roll out these new standards.
