Standard Life claimed four accolades at an awards ceremony sponsored by Scottish Business Insider on Wednesday night.

The Edinburgh-based insurer and fund manager was presented with the Deal of the Year, Sale of the Year and Acquisition of the Year awards at the prestigious ceremony in Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel, presented by Nick Hewer of The Apprentice.

Steve Murray, Standard Life’s managing director of advice and strategy, was awarded the Dealmaker of the Year title.

He was praised for his role in the company’s award-winning acquisition of Ignis Asset Management and the sale of its Canadian arm.

The deal to sell Standard Life’s Canadian interests to Manulife was hailed as a “bold, decisive move” by panellists.

The judging panel was chaired by Dr Chris Masters and included Allister Langlands, David Thorburn, Scott Black, Alec Carstairs and Paul Stevens.
