The Mu5icbyNum8ers 2018 report has found that visitors to Scotland spent £431m in Scotland on tickets, music merchandise, drinks, food and accommodation as well as indirect spending created by organisers in running the events.

The report also reveals that such an amount of revenue was generated as Scotland saw the strongest growth in the number of tourists attending live music events. The number of those attending events rose from 800,000 tourists in 2017 to 1.1 million in 2018, a jump of 38%.

The British music industry is worth £5.2bn to the economy and the live music sector is breaking the £1 billion barrier. It also revealed that a total of 190,935 jobs were provided through the music industry in the UK.

UK Music said: “Although Glastonbury Festival did not take place in 2018 when the data for the report was collected, the rise in the number of other festivals across the UK, particularly in Scotland, such as TRNSMT and Sunday Sessions, boosted the numbers.”
