  • Glasgow Taxi sees contactless payments double during lockdown

Glasgow Taxi Ltd customers have changed their habits amidst five months of lockdown, with the volume of bookings via app and payments via contactless card both doubling during the period.



Bookings via the Glasgow Taxis app peaked at an all-time high over the summer while customers swapping cash for contactless card have also doubled in number between March and August.

The trends support Glasgow Taxis’ overall “Separated, Sanitised, Safe” campaign which has swept through its fleet with special ozone cleaning technology, completely sanitising the interior of black cabs in just 15 minutes.

 

  • BOHO scoops “SME Creative Client of the Year” at The Nods 2020

Glasgow-based property management business BOHO has scooped the “SME Creative Client of the Year” award at The Nods 2020. 

The Nods are a set of not for profit creative awards that recognise and celebrate great work, people and organisations from Scotland. The online event took place on Thursday 20th August 2020 hosted by Radio 1 DJ, Arielle Free. 

BOHO launched their creative brand and website in January 2019 which was developed by Glasgow-based digital marketing agency Radiator. The brand launch was followed by the grand opening of BOHO’s flagship property Scotway House Student Accommodation in September 2019 and launch of sister-company ZUZU in 2020, which is the client-management arm of the business. 

 

  • Diageo’s Katherine Smart named as Renter Warden of the Worshipful Company of Brewers

Diageo’s expert brewer Katherine Smart has been appointed Renter Warden of the Worshipful Company of Brewers making her the first woman to take up the role. 

Based at Menstrie in Clackmannanshire, she will lead the way for the next generation of female brewers around the world.

Ms Smart first joined in the Worshipful Company of Brewers (or Brewers’ Company as it is more commonly known) as a liveryman brewer in 2014, becoming the first female Member of Court (the equivalent to the Company’s board) in 2018. As Renter Warden – one of the Company’s most senior leadership positions, Ms Smart is responsible, with the Master and other Wardens, for the oversight of the Company’s operations including supporting the charitable works of the Company.

 

  • WL Gore’s wire and cable to be used in NASA’s Mars 2020 mission

Wire and cable manufactured by Dundee-based WL Gore is being used by NASA on its Mars 2020 mission.

The firm’s cables enable data processing and communications during descent and landing. They are also part of the Perseverance Rover which will be used to search Mars’ surface for signs of microbial life.

The Mars 2020 spacecraft was launched on July 30 and is expected to land on February 18, 2021.
