Scottish Borders Council hosts business breakfast to support living wage week

Scottish Borders Council is hosting a business event for local firms to show its support for Living Wage Week.

Living Wage Week takes place from 11-15th November.

The council established and plays a leading role in the Scottish Borders Living Wage Group, which is encouraging all employers based in the Scottish Borders to pay all their employees the real Living Wage, currently £9 per hour.

The group is hosting a business breakfast on Wednesday 13 November between 8am and 10am.

Councillor Robin Tatler, chair of Scottish Borders Living Wage Group, said: “We are inviting representatives from all local businesses to come along to find out more about the real Living Wage and hear about the experience of employers and employees who are already paying and receiving it.

“The council supports the principle of a Living Wage and pays all in scope employees the Scottish National Living Wage. We are currently seeking accreditation as a Living Wage employer and would encourage other employers in the Borders to do so.

Any business that would like to come along or that are interested in finding out more about the real Living Wage can contact councillor Tatler on r.tatler@scotborders.gov.uk to confirm their attendance.
