Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM has announced that it is again collaborating with Turing Fest on the NextGen Founders network, to bring Scottish tech startups, partners and investors together to connect and inspire.

In advance of the first NextGen dinner of 2019, RSM welcomed eight founders to drop-in sessions, held at RSM’s Edinburgh office on Fountainbridge, with Rob Kniaz from Hoxton Ventures, an early stage technology venture capital firm.

This was followed by an informal dinner at the Ghillie Dhu where around 40 startup founders joined Turing Fest, RSM and other partners Addleshaw Goddard and Silicon Valley Bank.

During the evening, Natalie Novick from Tech.EU unpicked how the Scottish tech startup ecosystem compared to other thriving communities across the globe before Rob Kniaz provided insight to help founders build their understanding of venture capital investor expectations.

The event, which is the first in a series of four, was the perfect forum to discuss key opportunities and challenges in the tech sector which will help shape the future of the Scottish tech ecosystem.

Ross Stupart, tax partner and RSM’s head of TMT in Scotland, said: “We are proud to be supporting Turing Fest and Scottish tech startups to scale up along with the other partners. Whether it’s exporting, tax, legal or funding advice, we can all contribute to the future success of exciting new businesses that are ready to scale up across Scotland.

“Funding to fuel accelerated growth is always a key challenge for startup businesses, so it was great to welcome Rob to chat to businesses about venture capital as a possible funding stream; and what they are looking for from the founders and their businesses.”

Brian Corcoran, CEO at Turing Fest, said: “Turing Fest is delighted to be working with RSM to help develop Scotland’s tech economy. History has repeatedly proven that there is huge value to be had by connecting founders, investors, and partners together - each has their role to play in developing our ecosystem, and enabling those synergies is the main purpose of the NextGen Founders network.”

The next event takes place on Wednesday 15 May in Edinburgh.
