Mr Smith joins from KPMG to head up RSM’s capital allowances advisory team in Scotland and Northern Ireland. He brings over 20 years’ experience across tax and quantity surveying disciplines, where he is dual qualified as a charted quantity surveyor (RICS) and member of the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT).

He provides a wide range of clients with transactional, due diligence and technical advice and has particular expertise in property, construction, energy and renewables sectors.

Mr Simpson joins from KPMG where he acted for a variety of middle-market Scottish, UK and international clients on corporate tax matters. He also specialises within the creative sector working with charities, universities, video games developers, theatres and museums to secure valuable cash reliefs.

In their new roles, Will and Paul will work alongside the wider Scottish tax teams to support a growing portfolio of ambitious middle-market businesses in both Scotland and across the UK.

Alex Tait, RSM’s regional managing partner in Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “We are committed to attracting and investing in talent to support growth in key areas across our advisory practice. Both Paul and Will bring key capital allowance and creative relief specialisms that will enhance our offering in Scotland and help clients unlock cash within their business.”

The move follows significant investment in the Scottish team with over 50 hires since May 2019, including 28 new school leavers and graduate trainees.
