Raven Spirits will now ship its products to HongKong, Taiwan and Macau, allowing it to target the £730 million export market for British gin.

Business Gateway supported the business by helping it win Scottish Enterprise funding and supporting its effort to create a bespoke exporting action plan, The Scotsman reports.

Peter Sim, co-founder and director of Raven Spirits, along with his brother and co-founder Callum Sim, launched their first Scottish Gins in May 2018 – Hrafn Gin Thought & Memory and their limited edition Hrafn Gin Founders Edition.

Peter Sim said: “Typical gin producers in Scotland tend to target the local market which, especially in the case of Aberdeenshire, is very saturated. Therefore, we made a concerted effort to target export markets in order to grow the business.

“The grant received from Scottish Enterprise, with the help of Business Gateway, allowed us to thoroughly research our chosen markets, visit them and finally seal our first export agreement.”

He added: “Here at Raven Spirits we are as committed as ever to quality and producing the very best gin that we can. We plan to further grow our portfolio and expand it into new markets. We all need to grab opportunities as they arise and so we are always looking forward.”

Bill Hogarty, business adviser with Business Gateway Aberdeen City & Shire, added: “In order to meet its goal of exporting to international markets, Raven Spirits has taken advantage of the full breadth of specialist support Business Gateway can offer.”
