Business advisory firm Quantuma has expanded its forensic accounting and investigation team into Scotland with the appointment of managing director David Bell.

In his new role, Mr Bell will be responsible for launching Quantuma’s forensic accounting offering in Scotland. He will assist individuals, businesses, and lawyers on a range of disputes, including expert witness and advisory roles in business valuations, shareholder, and other commercial disputes. As well as this, he will assist in investigations and fraud-related matters.

This news follows Quantuma’s expansion into Scotland through its merger with insolvency and restructuring practice WRI Associates in March 2020. The firm currently works with Scotland’s professional services community and SMEs to provide restructuring and advisory support.

Mr Bell has over 15 years of forensic accounting experience, having acted in a variety of civil, criminal, and commercial disputes. He is an experienced expert witness, a member of the Expert Witness Institute and an accredited financial expert in collaborative law for matrimonial valuations.

He joins from EY, where he was a director of the firm’s forensic and integrity services practice. Prior to this, he headed up the forensic accounting department of a mid-tier accountancy firm.

Quantuma’s forensic accounting, investigation and eDiscovery team has become one of the UK’s leading mid-market teams, with regular instructions on some of the UK’s largest dispute and investigation matters.

Commenting on his appointment, David Bell said: “When the opportunity to expand Quantuma’s leading forensic accounting offering into Scotland came up, I couldn’t refuse. There’s a clear demand for these specialist services in Scotland, and Quantuma has firmly established itself as a leader in this space. I look forward to working with local businesses and building on the success of the wider practice.”

Ian Wright, managing director at Quantuma, added: “I’m delighted that David has agreed to join the team here in Scotland. This appointment brings an exciting opportunity to expand the range of advisory services we can offer the market.

“There seems to be a growing demand for David’s services and I’m sure we will be competitive. David is well-known, has an outstanding local network of contacts and brings a wealth of expertise and experience with him. I’m very much looking forward to working with him.”
