The new advisory group will be at the heart of shaping the charity’s work in Scotland.

Dr Martin is currently the registrar of the School of Humanities Edinburgh.

Alongside her employment as a chartered accountant, she is also an experienced executive and non-executive director having worked for various organisations.

Dr Martin has worked in audit and corporate finance for global accountancy firms Arthur Andersen, Deloitte and Mazars LLP, before joining the University of Glasgow in 2010.

Discussing the various appointments made to the group, David Allan, chair of the Scotland Advisory Group and Scotland Trustee on the board of Parkinson’s UK, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the range of experience and expertise of the people who applied to join the group. We’ve appointed people who reflect the real world in Scotland and have a broad diversity of background, thought and experience. They are united in their desire to grow the reach and impact of the charity and improve services and outcomes for the Parkinson’s community here.”
